Благодаря своей дружбе с Альфредом Солбригом, сыном пионера авиации Оскара А. Солбрига, Альфред Хусманн из Давенпорта, штат Айова, стал восторженным свидетелем испытательных полетов и выставок пилотов "Ранних пташек".


("Ранние пташки" были элитной группой людей, которые пилотировали самолеты до 17 декабря 1916 года).

“Early Bird” aviators by Alfred Husmann

Оскар Солбриг прошел обучение в летных школах Гленна Кертисса в Хаммондспорте, штат Нью-Йорк, и Сан-Диего, штат Калифорния, и к 1914 году успешно летал на своем самодельном биплане Curtiss pusher над городом Давенпорт.
